In this infographic you can see, in a very simple way, the great benefits of physical activity in older adults. It was created as part of the TREK project.

These benefits can be divided into 4 groups:

  • Chronic diseases prevention and risk reduction in: Falls, all causes of mortality, diabetes, coronary heart disease, hip fractures and high blood pressure, among others.
  • Functional status outcomes: better muscle strength, cognitive function, physical condition, bone density, activities of daily life.
  • Psychological and well-being : Stress, anxiety and depression reduction; sleep, satisfaction and self-esteem improvement.
  • Social benefits: Social life, social support, community participation and participation in intergenerational activity.
